Current & Recent Projects
Our Principals have collaborated as team members on numerous projects across Colorado since 2001. Our experience allows us to seamlessly integrate civil engineering design into the architectural, landscape, planning, and other project documents; and we will use that experience to ensure your project is a success.
A sample of our current and recent projects is given below:
Traditions at Lafayette – Lafayette, Colorado
Project Info:
- The Sanitas Group provided full civil engineering support for this 100+ unit senior housing apartment complex and associated multi-use development. The project involved subdividing an 8 acre lot into a 5-acre senior housing site as well as two future commercial/retail lots. Entitlement and construction documents were provided, as well as site development coordination. Neighborhood drainage, utility, and CDOT transportation improvements were necessary to complete this redevelopment of a site that had long been targeted for redevelopment by the City of Lafayette and developers.
Services:
- Preparation of civil engineering documentation for the PUD entitlement process, final engineering construction plans, coordination of platting documents including easement and lot line layout, and preparation of CDOT documents for access permitting and Notice to Proceed. Stormwater Management Planning was also provided with assistance in obtaining all necessary local and state permits. The Sanitas Group took the lead on coordinating the approval of all site related improvements.
Key Tasks:
- Design of a utility and drainage solution that resolved numerous design constraints such as minimal depths of the existing utilities and offsite storm runoff problems in the area that impacted the property.
- Preparation and coordination of CDOT Access Permit documents and Notice to Proceed Construction Plans for improvements to State Highway 7/Baseline Road.
- Preparation of a detailed grading layout that incorporated a large building footprint onto a sloping site while providing ADA accessible pathways to all sides of the building without compromising drainage or requiring an excessive number of ramps.
Transitions Center, Boulder Valley School District – Boulder, Colorado
Project Info:
- The Boulder Valley School District is constructing a new Transition Center facility at their East Arapahoe Campus. The project includes the construction of a new stand alone building with associated site improvements for utilities, parking, grading, walks, and landscaping.
Services:
- The Sanitas Group provided site planning assistance, as well as the grading, drainage, and utility design for the preliminary through construction administration phase of the project.
Key Tasks:
- Preparation of a site plan that provided the necessary parking and accessibility while working with the existing steep slopes and minimized the need to remove and replace existing facilities.
- Coordination of a design that both met existing Frontage Road conditions as well as future CDOT improvements that were in the design phase but would not be constructed after the completion of the Transitions Center. The construction documents included a phased construction plan.
- A new accessible walk/route was designed to connect the existing RTD bus stop with the new facility. The approximately 400 foot route required dealing with grading restraints while saving existing trees and reusing existing portions of walk where possible.
Flood Ordinance Cost Impact Analysis – City of Boulder, Colorado
Project Info:
- The City of Boulder contracted The Sanitas Group to prepare a Cost Impact Analysis for items related to proposed revisions to the City Floodplain Ordinance. The two areas of interest were the potential costs associated with preparing a Flood Emergency Operations Plan, and secondly, what were the potential construction cost impacts related to the proposed requirement that Critical Facilities be protected from the 500-year floodplain.
Services:
- The Sanitas Group completed a review of the proposed ordinance revisions and produced a cost impact analysis specific to the City of Boulder. Support was then provided throughout the public review process.
Key Tasks:
- Review of the proposed ordinance language and related documents.
- Review of City documentation related to existing critical facilities and other facilities within the floodplain, and preparation of the facility types, sizes, and flooding depth.
- Research of existing floodproofing cost data available through FEMA and other groups. Discussions with local architects, engineers, and contractors regarding the floodproofing within the City of Boulder and surrounding areas to gather relevant cost data.
- Preparation of a full report presenting the results of the cost impact analysis and supporting documentation, as well as a introductory summary of flood protection regulations, history, and why currently there is a push for protection of critical facilities from the 500-year flood event.
